Dirty Dozen Supreme Court Series*
In this meeting, we will be continuing the "Dirty Dozen series with discussion to follow. This time the case covered will be Whitman v. American Trucking Association, Inc (2001). We will be "examining the question: If the Constitution states that all legislative power vests in Congress, how can Congress delegate that power to agencies that are neither elected by the people nor accountable to the people's representatives?"
Guest Speaker: Michael Esterle
Michael Esterle escaped Czechoslovakia when it was a communist country in the 80s. He came to Wisconsin, settled in, started a business and became part of the American story. He is new to the group but has graciously agreed to share not only his experience under communisim but also his view on where we are falling down as a free nation. Michael will talk about what he sees as the warning signs.
*The series is based on Robert Levy and William Mellor's 2008 book "The Dirty Dozen: How Twelve Supreme Court Cases Radically Expanded Government and Eroded Freedom".
Discussion to follow.
